Meeting Schedule through June 2010

The Mid-Missouri Bonsai Society exists as a forum where members can develop their bonsai skills and network with other regional and national bonsai organizations. The mission of MMBS is to educate members and the community at large on aesthetic appreciation of bonsai and on specialized techniques of bonsai horticulture and design, building technical competence and enhancing enjoyment of the art.

Bring in your favorite tree, and overwintering discussion

Bring in a favorite tree for a "show-and-tell" and informal critique. This will be especially informative if your tree has already gone into dormancy and the branch structure is apparent. We will also have an informal discussion of overwintering your bonsai. New members will be able to get tips and tricks from those with many years of overwintering experience. Come prepared to take notes!

Holiday Dinner

There will be no regular meeting in December. Instead members will meet for at a local Columbia restaurant to celebrate the holiday season and an end to another successful bonsai season. Dinner will be dutch treat and include a gift exchange.

Spring Repotting Workshop

With Spring comes repotting of the bonsai trees we have worked on in previous workshops. Bring your workshop tree, suitable pot, and your own tools and wire. Soil will be provided by the club. Note: We have so much bonsai soil mix left over from previous soil-making workshops that we will not be making soil this year. Feel free to bring your own materials if you'd like to "mix your own" at the workshop.

We will be holding the election of officers. Please be sure to attend as your vote is important in selecting the leadership of the club. Our topic or demonstration has yet to be determined but will relate to bonsai and bonsai culture.

MMBS Spring Show

Join us for our annual bonsai show at the Columbia Public Library. All members are encouraged to bring a tree(s) to show. Signup sheets will be circulated in April for members to participate in the show by being on hand to answer questions and pass out MMBS brochures.
